NVIDIA has really done a superb job in ratcheting up performance in the mobile market for years now and its latest 8800GTX shows no signs of that company’s commitment in maintaining its leadership role. While the promises of DX10 are still lurking in the shadows, the demands for high-performance GPUs are still alive and well with today’s current crop of top PC titles – games like Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Assassin’s Creed and others can bring the graphic processors of even 6-12 months ago to a crawl.

Like NVIDIA, Alienware is one of the most pervasive in its given industry (desktop and laptop PCs) and for years now has been the hallmark and benchmark in which other “boutique” (I use that term very loosely when talking about Alienware) are compared to.

Few other system builders have achieved the incredible rock-star-like status that Alienware has and it truly is a great American success story in every measure of the phrase. From its humble, modest beginnings to its acquisition by Dell a couple of years ago – many of whom speculate was worth hundreds of millions of dollars – Alienware really is a champion for bleeding-edge PC performance.
