For the past several years now, Intel has completely dominated the CPU market. Ever since its release of "conroe" it hasn't looked back and has definitely put huge distances between it and rival, AMD - today's announcement of a 6-core CoreI7 shows no slow-down at all.

When Intel first released its CoreI7 line, the chip was code-named Nehalem and since that time Intel has kept building upon the success of that launch. Late last year, however, we did see a little shift with “Clarkdale” which used a different CPU socket, the P55 chipset and was the first CPU to feature integrated graphics technology.
