The first thing I noticed on the NV7 is the rather large lens piece; very impressive.  Often overlooked on cameras in this segment is what I consider to be among the most vital aspect – Glass - its ability to accurately and abundantly allow light inside the box at the press of a button.

The lens is branded “Schneider – Kreuznach.”  I know a little about Kreuznach – the CITY, in Germany, as I was stationed there with the Army in 1994-1995.  However, as a lens-maker, I had some research to do.  A few minutes on Wikipedia revealed the lens-maker has a long history of professional motion and still camera lens making – since 1913.  Also included is a very capable pop-up flash hidden in the top of the camera body.

The camera is rather small. At only slightly longer than a credit card, it would fit nicely into a bag or purse or jacket-pocket without too much trouble.  One disadvantage is the large lens – which can snag on the corners of a pocket, or otherwise hang up during removal.
