CPU coolers run the gambit in design. Some are interesting, but most are admittedly very plain looking. Then again, how much design can be packed into something which has the sole job of keep a computer's CPU cool? The vast majority of the time, they are just stuffed inside some beige box, never to see the light of day. So why should they have any special “design” to them? With “enthusiast” computer cases being ever so popular – sometimes people want a CPU cooler that not only works well, but also looks good. Enter in this cooler from Zerotherm, the BTF90.

To most of us, Zerotherm is a new name in CPU coolers – I for one had never heard of them. Zerotherm is an offshoot of Apack. Apack is a leader in OEM cooling solutions, providing OEM coolers of one type or another for a large base of companies like LG, Samsung and Intel. Last year they even signed a deal with Asus to provide VGA cooling systems for them, so obviously they know a thing or two about cooling. Zerotherm is launching into the consumer sector with its latest cooler designs and this one is the most interesting I think I’ve seen to date – viewed from the top it looks like a butterfly.

The BTF90 incorporates a 92mm fan into its butterfly design. It is compatible with Intel Socket 775 processors as well as all current AMD flavors of processors (Socket 754, 939, 940 and AM2). It has a dimension of 108x81x128mm and is based around an 8-line heat pipe design. Using all copper materials for the base, fins and heat pipes should help insure proper heat dissipation.
