Being one of the premier add-in board partners of NVIDA sure has its advantages for XFX and its latest efforts on the 8600GT moniker sure help keep things rowing in the right direction. Its “Fatality”-branded GeForce 8600GT has no active cooling on it and heavily borrows from some of XFX’s previous models which use similar cooling methods. While having a completely silent video card may not be a huge deal to most folks, there are those select few out there who can appreciate having a totally silent computer to  work and play on; and it’s to that demographic in which XFX is hedging bets this card will sell well to.

Starting from a baseline reference design setup, XFX first does some visual tweaks to it by using a black-colored PCB which is contrasted nicely by both the red-lettered “F” in the middle of the heatsink, its green DVI output jacks and an aftermarket passive cooler.
